Practice Emphasis
Amanda focuses her practice exclusive in family law matters, including divorce and separation, parenting time and parental decision making, child and spousal support, guardianship, relocation, and property division. Amanda understands that family disputes can be difficult, and as a result, she is a passionate advocate for her clients and works with them to find the most appropriate path toward resolution. Amanda believes it is important for her clients to have as much information about the legal processes and the options available to them, so they can feel confident in making the best decisions for themselves and their families.
Family law issues can be highly emotional and high conflict. By approaching all issues objectively, Amanda strives to resolve family law matters outside of court, and she has successfully negotiated settlement agreements for parenting issues, child and spousal support, and division of family property. When settlement is not possible, Amanda helps her clients resolve their disputes through litigation, and has successfully argued cases in British Columbia before the Provincial Court and Supreme Court, and in Alberta before the Court of Justice and the Court of King’s Bench.
Prior to joining Nixon Wenger LLP, Amanda was a partner of a boutique family law firm in Alberta. Amanda’s knowledge and experience of both the British Columbia and Alberta legal systems enable her to advise clients with interests in either province.
